Clearly, John Lennon was (and is) my most influential artist. I spent my childhood mesmerized by him and my adulthood studying his artistry in song structure. This recording is the result of deconstructing Dear Prudence with Walter Watson. All of the tracks are performed solely by the two of us. Walter did an amazing job on all of the vocal parts. I handled all of the bass and guitar duties. Man....did we have a good time in the studio! Thank you, John and Happy Birthday!

I always really enjoy playing this T-Bone Walker classic with John Mayall. Written in the 1940's, "They Call It Stormy Monday, (but Tuesday's Just As Bad)" has stood the test of time as a musical masterpiece. Did you know that in 1983, the song was inducted into the Blues Foundation Blues Hall of Fame calling it "one of the most influential records not only in blues history but guitar history?

Writing original blues music and making it something new and full of melody was my goal when Miracle was written in 2003. With the release of The Essential Rocky Athas Volume II, Miracle is remastered and available again for the first time since this promotional video was made. Please enjoy this historic clip which featured my good friend, writing partner and vocalist, Larry Samford, who is sadly no longer with us but left us a wonderful legacy with this performance.
In the 70's, Tommy Bolin replaced Ritchie Blackmore in Deep Purple and was a phenomenal guitarist. When I met Tommy's brother, Johnnie Bolin, drummer and founder of the Tommy Bolin Foundation, he asked me to play shows with Glenn Hughes in support of the Foundation. We had a rockin' good time together!
While recording my album, Miracle, Johnnie presented Tommy's acoustic version of Slow Driver that had never been released and the rest is...as they say...history. I was so impressed with Tommy Bolin's playing and song structure that I was honored to record this with Johnnie playing drums.
